The Santee Fire Department responds to a wide range of fire and rescue emergencies throughout our community. Here’s a quick breakdown of what each service means:
These involve buildings like homes, sheds, or businesses. Structure fires can spread quickly and are extremely dangerous. Our firefighters are trained to rescue anyone inside and stop the fire from spreading.
Emergency Tip: Make sure your smoke detectors are working. Test them monthly and replace the batteries at least once a year.
Fires in cars, trucks, or other vehicles can start from accidents, overheating, or electrical issues. They can be unpredictable and may spread to other vehicles or structures.
Emergency Tip: If your vehicle catches fire, pull over safely, turn off the engine, get everyone out, and move at least 100 feet away. Call 911 immediately.
These fires burn in fields, forests, or wooded areas and can move very quickly, especially during dry or windy weather. Our team works to protect homes, land, and wildlife around Santee.
Emergency Tip: Never burn yard waste during dry or windy conditions. Check with local officials before doing any outdoor burning.
This includes emergencies in rivers, ponds, lakes, or flooding. Our team is trained to rescue people from rising water, submerged vehicles, or boating incidents.
Emergency Tip: Avoid driving through flooded roads. Just six inches of water can cause you to lose control of your vehicle.
